CPI discovered that their linseed oil formulae, P-1, P-2, P-3, and P-4 , were superior to other preservative products, were not as costly and did not require as much surface preparation.

Testing revealed that each formula was able to penetrate into the concrete and become part of the concrete surface and provide a greater improvement over what was presently being used.

The products were tested and approved at the University of Hong Kong and the University of Manitoba by a committee set up to evaluate the products. This committee included Dr. H.C.Chan, Dr. A.H.K.Kwan, Dr.Cheung, Dr.Rizkalla, Don Firth, Ministers of Public Works, Highways, Housing, The Chief Engineer, and two former Ministers of Public Works and Highways.

Detailed researched results were published by the Institution of Engineers Hong Kong, authored by Dr. S. Rizkalla, Dr. H. C. Chan, Dr. A. K. H. Kwan and Mr. Y. P. Xie, and stated that the results of P-1, P-2, P-3, P-4 were "effective in protecting concrete surfaces and will protect and improve the durability of concrete in Hong Kong."

Dr. Rizkalla, formerly Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Manitoba and President of ISIS, now Distinguished Professor of Engineering and Construction at North Carolina State University, stated: "the results have confirmed that the linseed oil formulations of Concrete Preservative P-1, P-2, P-3, and P-4 are effective in protecting all types of concrete surfaces. They are easy to apply and economical to use and can be applied by brush, roller, or spray."
